What's it all for?
Sex is much more than having orgasms and babies. O.K., it is about having fun
and enjoying it, but it’s also about mutual respect, trust, friendship, affection,
play, passion, anger, making up, giggling, etc. – all the emotions you get in
real life.
In fact, the most important erogenous zone in sex isn’t between your legs, it’s
that hefty organ inside your head! Sex is always tied up with how we feel about
ourselves, other people, and the world in general. That’s why it’s also about
looking after your body and not doing anything that you feel uncomfortable with.
Unfortunately involving your brain like this makes it all very tricky. Your
local newsagent is full of magazines telling you how to have better sex – and
we must all be worried, because we all buy them!
As far as your body goes, though, your sex bits and pieces are basically there
to make babies and to help you enjoy doing it. . . Men’s bits are designed to
make sperm and make sure it gets near a female egg. Women’s bits are designed to
receive sperm and to ensure that one of them fertilizes the woman’s egg (ovum), and
to look after the baby until it’s born, as well as to feed it for its first few
months.
